It's the Season to be Like Children

No one celebrates Christmas like Filipinos. Forget about the fact that our Christmas season begins as early as September. Forget about the fact that our tropical country produces more snowy Christmas displays than Iceland.

We make shopping expeditions to the most outrageously inaccessible portions of Metro Manila. We max out our credit cards.

As we draw closer to Christmas, Filipinos celebrate the season with the reckless abandon of the early Christians. And for the early Christians, those who lived and died so close to the time of Jesus Christ, this recklessness never bordered on mania. It always held true to what we read of in the Gospel:

"At that time, Jesus declared 'I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.'"

Let's not forget to always keep the spirit of Christmas alive, by celebrating it as would a child.

You of all people should know that the Philippine Christmas season doesn't begin in October.

It begins in September!
