For many precocious children, the real mystery of Easter is how bunnies can somehow produce eggs. Precocious children of a slightly more mischievous inclination would extend this mystery to how bunnies who miraculously produce eggs seem to have strewn them all over the place. Ah, to be young and concerned with bunnies, eggs, and the miracle of sharing!
While most adult Christians would insist, and rightly so, that the true miracle of Easter concerns the Christ who rose again from the dead, may we never lose the spirit of discovery and wonder that allows us to meditate on the incongruity of bunnies that lay eggs, and the Christ that celebrates such hunts with joy and laughter.
