Reconsidering the Reproductive Health Bill

I was reading my friend Nicole's blog, Drawing Lines, when I came across a link to this petition against the Reproductive Health Bill.

Before I used to think that the authors of the RH Bill, while horribly misinformed, could at least be charitably termed "well-meaning". While I still hold to my original position, the upcoming birth of my 3rd child (and 1st daughter) Lucia Consuelo is making me reconsider my position.

It's not enough to be sincere. Lord knows, I've been sincerely wrong on a number of occasions. However, it is our duty to always consider whether what we believe in is true. There are some things which are grounded in human fact, and these are important to consider. I daresay that the contestants on Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader, such as Kathy Cox would rather know what the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow is lest they meet the fate that befalls all bridge keepers who can't distinguish between the African or European variety. And yet human fact pales in comparison with human truth; and human truth is but a pale reflection of a divine truth that makes all these facts and truths make sense.

So please take time to consider your position on the RH Bill. I know that, given both the facts and the truths that inform my understanding of these facts, I am.

And for all those who enjoyed the reference to Monty Python and the Holy Grail, here's how one can go about Estimating the Airspeed Velocity of an Unladen Swallow.

Your heart's in the right place, but...There's no two ways about it. The Roman Catholic Church must EXCOMMUNICATE every nominal Catholic who supports the Reproductive Health Bill, if it is to be consistent with its strident claims that intentionally preventing conception is a grave sin against God and Nature, and a gross violation of an infallible doctrine of the Church.
“Let them be ANATHEMA!” is the standard exorcistic formula.
Many have noted the presence of greater and greater LAXITY in the Church (and of course I wholeheartedly encourage it!) but
Mary Racelis over at Newsbreak is wrong: you can’t BE a devout Catholic and support modern birth control. So either the Church reforms its irreformable teaching, or it expels millions of heretic and mortal-sinning Filipinos.

Let us not forget the most famous excommunicant in Philippine History: JOSE RIZAL, the very First Filipino (and the 95% of the leaders of the Katipunan who were secretly Masons). The CBCP, as late as 1990, reaffirmed the automatic excommunication of such heretics.
I dare them to be morally and doctrinally consistent. After using words like murder and unnatural and sinful confounding abortion with contraception, it’s the height of laxity that is the most telling about their true, personal convictions. This is clearly institutional hubris enforced by an inhumane patriarchal autarchy of the Roman Pontiff.

They need to walk their talk or face increasing loss of credibility. Now even the JIL and INC appears more genuine and earnest than the RCC.

Yes, pls post pics of your daughter when she's in the "outside world" already =)

As a matter of fact, do take lots of photos. Why not send one to us? We can have like a birth announcement, but I'm thinking if it's going to be a daddy-baby thing. We're overloaded already with mommy-baby photos.
